Enough is enough

As many of you have heard, Braxton has had a lot of ear infections. At least 6 is what we can remember. So after having two ear infections just in January alone, enough is enough. I'm done with the antibiotics and emergent visits to urgent care when he's burning up with a fever. But the question is now, who to go to. I do know some doctors from working at the hospital but not when it comes to Pediatric specialists. So after talking to some people and asking around, my friend's referral to an Ears Nose and Throat (ENT) specialist won me over. Her son has had tubes put in his ears and she just loved the pediatric ENT that did his surgery. So I called up my pediatrician, got a referral sent off, and had our first appointment with him (Dr. Park) this last Friday. The appointment was up at Primary Children's hospital and went very well. Jackson was able to come with me because he currently doesn't work the weekends anymore, so that was a bonus not to go alone.

The doctor was very thorough and looked in both ears, his nose, and mouth just to check everything out. He said he currently doesn't have an ear infection (yeah!) and that he agreed that tubes would be beneficial since he's had 6+ ear infections in just the last 6 months. So there we have it, an appointment for Braxton to get tubes in his ears. The soonest we could schedule his surgery was on Feb. 27th. It's a few days before his birthday which was a little bit of a bummer but Jackson and I just want to get it over and done with. We both are quite sick of the constant ear infections and hope this will resolve the issue for the most part. Plus it is a really minor quick surgery. They don't even have to put an IV in him. They just have him inhale some sleepy medicine to put him to sleep and then the length of the whole procedure is only 10-15 minutes. Really quick, nothing major, just something that needs to be done.

Jackson and I both feel good about this doctor and hope this will stop the frequent ear infections. The doctor said that some kids still do get ear infections once in awhile after having them put in but it is very rare. In fact my friend Ashlee said her little girl had an ear infection within two days after they had tubes put in her ears. So all we can do is hope for the best. I do think this well help out a lot. After his surgery, they do a general check up and check him out a month later and have him get a hearing test to make sure his hearing is still good. We're a little nervous but look forward to Feb 27th.

Has been weighed and checked out by the nurse, just waiting for the doctor.

Time to check out Braxton's ears, nose, and throat, he was a good sport about it.

Braxton later on playing with Maximus learning how to throw his ball for him.
