Hip "Hip" Hooray!

Just an update on Greyson's hips. He started wearing the hip brace on March 3rd.  Three weeks later he had a follow-up appointment on March 24th. They did an ultrasound before hand followed by a doctor's appointment with the orthopaedic surgeon.

Braxton being content with the ipad. He was very nervous about coming into this dark room and was overall cranky because it was his nap time. (Don't you just love the picture quality from my temporary cheap 10 dollar phone from Walmart.)

The same ultrasound tech lady from his last appointment. I wonder if she's the only one they have or maybe she just works every Tuesday.

The results: it is hard to read them due to phone quality but they are:
Rt hip: 64 degrees; 51%
Lt hip: 61 degrees; 45%
So the right hip was within normal limits (greater than 60 degrees and greater than 50%) but the left hip needed the brace a bit longer.
A reminder of the his numbers for the first appointment ultrasound:
Right hip: 61 degrees; 47%
Left hip: 58 degrees; 37%
So there was definite improve in the second ultrasound!

The paper the doctor was using to refer too, glad I took a picture of it because the photo above is hard to read.

So the doctor readjusted the straps due to his growth since the last visit and I was told to bring him back in four weeks.

So April 21st we went back again. Braxton was in a much better mood that day as I scheduled an early appointment.

Right hip: 66 degrees; 57%
Left hip: 65 degrees; 52%
We are above normal limits! Yay!
The game plan is now to have him wear the brace only at night for the next 4 weeks and then stope wearing it all together. I then am to take him back in 4 months for an x-ray to officially confirm everything is still in socket.

The doctor readjusting the straps one more time to fit him better for his nights of wearing it.

Our moments of March

Well surprisingly enough we have quite a few pictures for the month of March, but first I have to thank family and friends for there donation of pictures that were taken this last month. I just recently got a new camera and my phone is now finally fixed, so here's to getting some better pictures. :)

Probably the worst picture you'll ever see of Greyson, haha.
Just trying on an outfit from Grandma and Grandpa Plott, I'm thinking he might have been hungry.

A picture I found on the hubby's phone of when we went to Idaho for our niece's blessing.

The night before Greyson's baby blessing. Cousin fun!

My friend's husband texted me pictures of my Greyson, trying to cheer me up, while we were off to the Emergency Room with Braxton. This was one of the ones he sent me.

Saturday, the day before the baby blessing, Braxton was having a bit too much fun and was swung out of a laundry basket and hit the ground pretty hard. He cried for quite awhile but eventually calmed down. He still cried here and there but seemed fine for the most part. Well as the day went on, we realized that every time we put our hands underneath his armpit to pick him up he would just scream. My first thought was maybe he had a broken rib. And the bad thing about being a nurse is you know a lot more than the average person about everything that can go wrong with a broken rib or any other problem that could occur.

After about the third time of hearing Braxton scream every time we tried to pick him up from the chair or the stroller, we finally realized that something was wrong and decided it'd be best to take him to the ER, it was about 9pm and I knew nothing else would be open. Again, my main concern was a possible broken rib or punctured lung from that. So we took him to the ER and the doctor instantly thought of a possible broken collar bone. The doctor ordered an X-ray and sure enough, he had a "closed fracture of shaft of clavicle". The doctor said because he was so young that his bones are more bendable at this stage and that it was just majorly bent and there was nothing we could do about it. We just needed Braxton to not move his arm around and keep it immobile, which how do you get a two year old to do that? We could have given him a sling but than again, would that do any good or would he even wear it? So the doctor said to just watch it, give him pain medicine as needed, ice it as needed, and follow up with his pediatrician.

A couple weeks later we took Greyson to his normal check up and I asked the doctor about Braxton's clavicle. He felt his shoulder and did not think it was still bent and felt it was not necessary for another x-ray for now, but we'll follow up again and maybe get an x-ray to make sure it did heal.

So there you have it, our not-so-needed drama the night before the baby blessing. There was still so much to get done and this didn't help, but hey you can't have a party without a little bit of set backs here and there.

The fracture is on Braxton's right side (left side of this picture.)

A close up.
Luckily while we were gone in the ER, my mom finished baking Braxton's birthday cake for me and my friend Ashlee and sister Emily helped with it also by setting up the layout for me and putting on the first coat of icing. Thanks you guys! Couldn't have finished it without you. You all saved me lots of time that I didn't have to complete it!

We had extra special visitors that weekend of the blessing. My Grandparents from California came up to attend Greyson's special day. I had some great pictures of them with our boys but sadly lost them when my phone crashed. Just grateful for the ones my family took. This was a picture my sister took. They were helping with the trim for Braxton's birthday cake. I was told it was so cute to watch them working together on making Braxton's cake look perfect.

A picture of me putting on the finishing touches.

The finished product! I was so happy with how it turned out. We stuck some flags on it after this picture that you will see in some pictures below, but I thought it looked great! Thanx again to all those who helped! :)

The day of the baby blessing. It was great to have so many family and friends come support our family that day.

This was Greyson in his blessing outfit. Sadly enough this was not taken the day of the blessing because all the cute ones I got of him on his blessing day, smiling nonetheless, are gone and lost forever with my broken phone. Oh it makes me so cranky! Oh well, moving on. So here is a picture of him in the blessing outfit that was taken about a week and a half before. Better than nothing right? :/ Grrrr!

Greyson received a beautiful blessing from his father on Sunday March 8, 2015. This is just a side note of some of the things that were said for future reference:
~Through these trials you face in this life, remember that your Heavenly Father loves you.
~May you always fight for yourself to continue on.
~Continue to grow in body and spirit.
~Love unconditionally, as much as your Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ does.
~Through your trials, continue to do what you know is right.
~Continue on with your education.
~Serve a mission and be able to teach and help people around you as you serve.
~May marry and grow a family.

After the blessing, we all went back to our house for lunch and cake.

Jackson's cousin's kids in these next two pictures.

Family picture time!
These are my dad's parents, Great Grandma and Great Grandpa!

We had the tables and chairs set up in our garage.

Greyson's blessing cake

This was taken just before singing to Braxton. This is the finished cake with the flags.

Braxton wasn't the most pleasant at this time. He usually gets a nap and that didn't happen not to mention his bad shoulder. Don't know if I will combine a birthday and a blessing together again, he was just so cranky that day. Lucky for him he probably didn't remember any of it.

Getting him to blow out his candles.

Braxton opening up his presents from family.

Thank you everyone for all of his great gifts!

This was a mini trampoline that Jackson and I gave him and it was the only gift we gave him. While Greyson was in NICU, the lady who watched Braxton a lot for us had a trampoline like this in her basement and Braxton just loved it. It was the first thing he would go to anytime he went to their house. So we thought it would be great to get him one and put it to good use upstairs in the TV room. It's been nice that he can get some good exercise during that time I lay on the couch to rest my eyes for an hour after working a graveyard shift.

Found my Grandpa several times that week sleeping while holding Greyson. So cute!
Just loved this picture of Jackson and our friend Ashlee's daughter, so cute!

Saying good-bye, she's about 6 months older than Braxton.

The week of hanging out with Great Grandma and Great Grandpa.

Great Grandpa and Braxton walking into a store.

Great Grandma helping out with Greyson's bath.

Greyson trying out the bath towel my mom made for him. Turned out pretty cute, thanx mom!

Just a couple of pictures taken some of the nights our Grandparents were here. They got to spend a whole week with us!

Somebody broke Jackson's back car window while he was working at Petsmart, gotta love the world we live in today. Luckily it's the very small back window.
The following Saturday after the blessing, we went to Idaho to see my cousin and her new husband at their open house. They were married about three weeks prior to that in California and lucky for us the groom is from Idaho so we all got to be apart of the open house with her. On the way to Idaho, we stopped at Sizzler for lunch. Jackson ordered the Steak and Malibu chicken.  My grandparents were sick the day before and didn't want there steak that came with their meal so guess who did want them!! This is a picture of Jackson with three steaks. Needless to say, that steak didn't sit well with him by the time we got home late that night. He was one very sick man that night, poor guy.

My cousin and her hubby.

My Grandpa and Greyson share the same birthday, so we were trying to get a picture of the two of them that night at the open house for our family calender.

Thank you so much Grandma and Grandpa for coming and driving such a long way to be apart of Greyson's special day. We truly appreciate it and loved having you here with us for a whole week! It was fun and we look forward to the next time we get to spend time with you again!

Four generation picture.

Sadly enough Braxton wasn't feeling to good either by the end of the night. He too threw up a couple times after getting home. We hardly fed him that day due to the fact that he was sick and throwing up two nights prior. We thought he was fine but he than threw up in the car right as we were pulling into our garage that night. What a fun night we had, Jackson and Braxton both sick. I do think Jackson had it worse though. I don't know why but Braxton has gotten sick a lot lately. It's very frustrating, it's like anytime I take him anywhere he gets sick. I'm just gonna have to learn to carry hand sanitizer anywhere I go and ask people in advance before we go anywhere if anyone was sick. Because one little cough or snotty nose and Braxton will seriously get it.
Cutting the cake!

Such big bright eyes. His pupils are huge there! I wonder if he'll have dilated pupils all the time like his mommy due to the oxygen he was on. I was on oxygen quite a bit my first year of life and because of that my pupils are dilated more often than not and I was told the oxygen is most likely what caused that. Dilated pupils does give someone beautiful eyes though!
Onto the rest of the month of March.

This is seriously one of my favorite outfits, I find myself putting Greyson in it all the time. Thanks to Jackson's brother Travis and his wife Sara for the outfit. We truly love it!
Fascinated by the 1st bug he's ever seen crawling on the ground, a centipede.

Some brotherly love!

Braxton loves trying on shoes, I find him trying on anybody's shoes he can find in the house.

I love watching these two grow up together, I am finding myself taking more pictures of the two of them more than anything else. Such a great family dog.

I don't know how they got in a position like this.

I went to my friends funeral in Idaho the last weekend of March and these are a few pictures that were taken at my parents house.
Braxton enjoying popcorn...

 ... and Grandpa's ice cream.

The newly weds were in town for a softball game. My cousin Gabby helps coach the high school softball team from where they live now. After the game they stopped by our house for pizza and fuze ball.

I love snuggling up to him during nap time.

A picture of Braxton just after his haircut. It's such a struggle and pain to get Braxton's hair cut. It just might be his last haircut for awhile. We might try a longer look on him for a bit to see what it looks like. It's such a hassle to cut his hair.
