Well the day has come, time for Braxton to get tubes in his ears. He had his surgery last Thursday at Primary Childrens. Jackson had to work so I asked Emily to come with me instead. It was great having someone there to keep me company and help out. We were told to be there at 0845 for check in and prep, than his surgery would be at 10ish. Overall the surgery was super quick and went well. Only took like 10-15 minutes. As we were sitting in the waiting room, I can't even imagine those that have to sit there for hours waiting for there loved ones to get out of surgery. I instantly thought of my sister in-law Kandra and how she had to wait for her little boy to get out of a 7 hour surgery. I can't even imagine. Just the 10 minutes was hard for me, 7 hours would have killed me. Applause to you Brandon and Kandra!
Well, the surgery was over and time for recovery. The doctor said that the surgery went well and that he didn't have a current ear infection, yeah! We sat in recovery for about 20 minutes to sip on juice and eat some crackers and than we went home. We left the hospital about 1130, so not too bad. The day went by pretty fast for the most part. I'm glad it went well, even for being such a small procedure. Thank you Emily for coming with me, you were a great help and support!
The hospital called the day before and said to give him a bath the night before to help decrease the risk of infection.
So Emily offered to give him his bath.
At the hospital waiting to be checked in.
All the fun toys that kept us occupied!
He really liked the toy car that was there. Emily was a good sport and gave him several pushes around the room.
The CNA getting his weight and vitals.
Time to change him into his hospital gown.
The nurse practitioner doing his overall check approving him for surgery.
Now we are in the Pre-op room, waiting for the doctor and anesthesiologist to arrive.
Gave him a dose of tylenol and motrin.
The anesthesiologists, the ENT doctor already came and talked to us real quick right before.
The little good-bye we had and his walk down the hall to the operating room.
The wait is over, the surgery went well. The nurse I found holding him in recovery.
They said as long as they gave him juice he was content, which wouldn't surprise me since he wasn't allowed to eat anything all morning. He never did show any signs of nausea.
Emily was so good about taking pictures of everything, haha. I never had to ask her to take a picture she just sat back and took pictures whenever she felt it was necessary. Great job Em!
Time to get dressed. He honestly didn't cry much. I was expecting the worse. My friend said she cried in recovery and the whole drive home. Poor little girl. Braxton was a champ though, thank heavens, don't want him to be sad and crying. He had a quick recovery and was back to normal before we left the hospital.
We're leaving now!
We're home, Emily giving him his bottle and putting him to bed for his nap. He actually slept for about 3-4 hours. So the surgery did do a number on wearing out his little body.
I am so glad that he had the surgery though and that it went well. I've heard how much better the kids are after and how it opens up there ears more and that they can hear so much better. Emily had to get tubes in her ears in her teenage years and she said it was amazing the difference it made and how much better she could hear. Thanx again for your help Em!
