Well to top off valentines day, I passed my test and overall passed my first rotation, OB! There are 3 rotations total and 5 weeks per rotation for my final semester of the nursing program. The rotations are OB, Advanced Med Surg, and Preceptorship. They separate our semester into 3 groups and we rotate through each rotation. My first rotation was OB and I loved OB! I saw a c-section and two vaginal births, it was just a really neat experience and I loved working on the maternity floor taking care of women and their babies. I actually hope to go back to that field of work upon graduation. I now start Advanced Med Surg on Tuesday, I'm actually pretty nervous because the 1st group of students that took Med surg while I was in OB always looked stressed every time I passed by them at school. In fact, our graduating class lost 3 or 4 very smart students that wasn't able to pass med surg, so I'm a little nervous about this next rotation but will just keep pushing forward and hope for the best.
Well to to top off my great week of valentines day and passing OB, my throat started feeling sore on Wednesday night after my clinical at the family medical clinic where we saw OB patients as well as sick kids with sore throats. My throat got progressively worse and by Saturday morning after not being able to hear out of the right ear, blowing my nose every minute for the past two days, and coughing and not being able to talk or eat I finally went to the doctors office with Jackson. I than got diagnosed with strep, sad day. :( I didn't think I had it because they weren't diagnosing anyone at the clinic with strep so I thought it was just a virus that would go away, which I was wrong and started antibiotics right away. Saturday was awful for me, I couldn't eat and couldn't breathe. But Jackson was such a sweetheart and took good care of me! Travis and Radlee (Jackson's brothers) were in town and were able to come over and assist Jackson in giving me a blessing. I'm feeling a little better today but I'm glad I have no school tomorrow and can have another day of healing. I just worry for Jackson now because he said tonight that his throat is starting to feel sore, so I worry. He did really good at just kissing me on the forehead since Wednesday but he still might of got it as well. I told him if it feels worse tomorrow we'll get him checked, I don't want to see him as bad as I was. Well thats the news for now any extra prayers to get through my advanced med surg class are appreciated! :) Only 10 more weeks of school!! :) I can do it! I know I can, I know I can! By the way this last picture is me causing contractions by being the uterus while my friend delivers a baby. My clinical instructor is next to me in this picture, loved her!! :)
Hey Rachel!!! Congrats on passing your rotations. That is awesome and I am so proud of you. I am so so sorry that you got strep throat. I had strep just about a month ago and it was horrible so I am so so sorry that you had to go through that. I miss you guys and I hope that we get to see you some time soon. Both of our lives are so crazy, but I know we can make time for each other right? :o) Congrats again and you will be in our prayers for this next rotation. You'll do great. Good luck and love ya guys!
ReplyDeleteHey Kandra! It was great to see your comment!! :) You always bring a smile to my face!! :) Ya, strep was a killer for me this time around, but I am doing better thanx. :) We miss ya too and we both look forward for school to be done so our schedule won't be so booked with long hours of school/studying/clinicals etc. I figure things will slow down once March is over because I will than start preceptorship in Idaho Falls, so I'll live closer to Pocatello in the month of April with Jackson visiting on occasion. So hopefully than we can get together and catch up. I hope all is well with you guys and that school is going well! Thanx for the prayers! :) Love ya! :)
