My sister Emily had a birthday this month! A couple of weeks before her birthday, her roommates found me through facebook and contacted me. I've met them before on several occasions when I've gone to Ogden, hence why I think they contacted me. Anyhow, they wrote me a message to tell me that they were planning a surprise birthday party for Emily and were going to do it either the Tuesday or Thursday of the week of her birthday. I told them I could go either day, but with a trip to Washington happening soon in the mix of things, I thought the Tuesday would be best, plus she wouldn't be expecting it. So they planned for Tuesday. They than asked me if I knew what her favorite dessert was or her favorite game. I didn't have an answer for a favorite game but I thought she really liked the no bake cheesecake I've made before because she's always telling me that is what she wants at her wedding reception someday. So I offered to make a cheesecake for the party. The surprise party didn't start till 8:30 Tuesday night and with Jackson having to be at work the next morning at 5AM, he stayed home to get some sleep. Plus Ogden is about an hour drive for us. So just Braxton and I went. We showed up at her apartment at 8:00 since her friends wanted everyone to be at there 30 minutes before to be more of a surprise. Emily was at institute with a friend while everyone was arriving for the party. So 8:30 arrived and all of us were in the kitchen hiding with the lights off. As Emily opened the door, everyone yelled "Surprise!"Which actually scared Emily and made her scream. The thought of being in her shoes really would be frightening. All of the lights being off, expecting no one to be there and then all of a sudden have people yell surprise, I probably would have screamed myself. It was fun though, and she was surprised that Braxton and I was there as well even at such a late hour of the day. Overall the party was a great success. Emily has a lot of awesome friends that I met that night. It was so nice of her roommates to do that for her and I'm glad that I was able to be apart of it or that they thought to invite us. Happy Birthday Emily!! Glad I live close enough to be apart of your special day! Thanx for all that you do for me and Jackson and for loving Braxton so much! Love ya sis!
The wait for everyone to arrive including the birthday girl.
I colored Braxton's hand with marker and was able to do a handprint! :)
"SURPRISE!!"
These pictures were pretty dark since the lights were just barely on.
I made two cheesecakes once I heard that there were going to be lots of people. Glad I did, enough for second helpings!
I had to park quite the distance from Emily's apartment so she wouldn't recognize my car.
So on that long distance walk, I was carrying Braxton, the diaper bag, and the cheesecakes by myself. The Blueberry cheesecake had tinfoil on it, So while I was quickly walking with a full load, Braxton put both has hands right on top of the cheesecake pressing quite hard. And I couldn't put everything down to stop him, so there you have it. Braxton's handprints (two white spots) on the cheesecake.
Everyone singing Happy Birthday and really well on tune I might add. I couldn't believe how well Happy Birthday was sang. Like vibrato etc. You can just see how well they sang this by looking at the picture below, for instance look at the guy on the right in the picture. It was a very well sang rumination of Happy Birthday! Wish I would have recorded it instead of take pictures. I was told that a lot of them are in college music classes.
All the other girls in this picture below are Emily's roommates, so awesome of them to plan this party for her.
This is the one and only picture of me in the background, I'm not one to tell people to take pictures of me hence why I'm not in a lot of blog posts, but there I am, serving cheesecake. I got a lot of compliments on it and I'm glad I was able to make it for Emily and her friends.
Playing games now. They spun Emily around so she wouldn't know where anyone was in the room and she had to tell the person that grabbed her spatula to make a certain animal sound. She had to guess which person in the room made that sound.
Braxton was loved by everyone and held by lots of people, he was so good to let random strangers just hold him. A lot of the girls would tell me how cute he was, and I said, "If only he was 20 years older!" haha ;)
Group picture! I think one or two people may have left before this picture was taken, but this is the gang. A bunch of silly faces were taken.
