Thanksgiving at home this year! For the last few years we have always went somewhere for Thanksgiving, either a family or a friends house. So once hearing that Jackson and I both had Thanksgiving day off from work, I jumped all over the idea of having Thanksgiving at our house and for us to cook a turkey this year. After talking with Jackson, we both decided that we both really didn't know how to cook a turkey. I'm sure we could have learned how to cook a turkey online etc but I thought it would be more fun to have my parents over for Thanksgiving to have them help me learn the ropes of cooking a Thanksgiving dinner. Soon after talking to my parents, I learned that my two cousins from California, Whitney and Peyton that are now currently going to school at BYU Idaho, would be staying in Idaho for Thanksgiving this year. Perfect! An extra bonus! I get to see two of my cousins too. I haven't seen them since my wedding day! So there you have it, our Thanksgiving at home with my parents and two cousins from California. It was fun and I'm grateful my parents/cousins could make the drive down to our house. They arrived late Wednesday night and headed back home Friday afternoon.

As well as cousin Peyton!

While mom and I were cooking, I sent Jackson and my dad off to go pick up my most recent facebook purchase from a facebook yardsale! A Luv Sac Monster Sac!! I have been trying to buy one of these for a long time now and have even looked into buying them bran new, but wasn't willing to buy it new for $900.00. People sale these Luv Sacs on facebook all the time but it's usually a first come first serve type of thing so I'm usually always too late at getting it. But this time, someone posted one for sale and I was the first to get my hands on it! Only for $40.00 even! Yahoo!! So excited! Never seen them be posted for that cheap! Finally getting my luv sac, the only issue was now that we didin't have a way of transporting it. Luckily my parents have a van. Another added bonus of having my parents in town for Thanksgiving, their van for transportation!
Jackson sent me this picture of our Luv Sac in the van, I had no idea that it was that huge haha but oh so glad to have it. I love huge bean bags and have always wanted one.
Thanx dad for helping us get our Luv Sac!
My Dad trying it out now. We put a blanket on it for now until we can purchase a Luv Sac cover. Must be pretty comfy for my dad to fall asleep on it!
After the bean bag, we than decided to go see the movie "Frozen" while we left the turkey home to cook.
But the showing we were planning on going to see was pretty packed and we wanted a good seat so we decided to go to the next show which left us an hour and a half wait. So while waiting we went to Carl's Jr for a snack. Didn't get pictures of anyone else eating, but I did get a cute one of my lil man!
At the movies, Braxton was pretty tired and fell asleep during previews. Luckily he woke up later on during the movie.
It's nice having someone available to take a picture of the three of us! Thanx mom!
Whitney, Peyton, and Braxton!
"Frozen" was a really good movie, super cute. I asked Jackson what he thought of the movie and his response was, "We're buying it." So with that being said. It is well worth the time to watch it.
Time for Thanksgiving Dinner!
Jackson and dad carving the turkey.
Everything was home made! That was my goal this year, to do everything homemade. And I made sure I did everything or at least was a part of it all and watched the things my mom helped out with so I would know what I was doing the next time I cook a turkey dinner on Thanksgiving. The corn and gravy of course wasn't homemade but oh well. Still yummy!
Our menu consisted of stuffing, a butternut squash casserole, candid yams, mashed potatoes, corn, fruit salad, gravy, and of course turkey. It all turned out really good. The only thing I wasn't a big fan of was the fruit salad, it was okay but probably not worth the time to make again. I also made all the pies, Pumpkin, Banana Creme, and Chocolate. I was gonna make a berry cobbler but didn't feel up to doing it after we got stuffed with Turkey dinner. Oh well, maybe Christmas I'll make it. Thanx mom for all your help, I don't know if I could have done it all by myself.
Mmm, Yummy!
Trying out our Luv Sac! I love it! :) It's our new movie chair!
The next day after Thanksgiving, my family offered to help hang up Christmas decorations. My house looks great now! Thank you!
It was a great Thanksgiving and I'm grateful that we were able to spend it together with my parents and cousins. I'm especially grateful for the big help they were with the dinner and Christmas decorations. It was a lot of fun to have them over. Thank you Mom, Dad, Whitney and Peyton for coming! It was great to see you! Miss you already!
Lastly, about a week or so ago, Jackson and I decided to write down 100 things that we are thankful for this year. I thought it would be fun to post it on our blog to remember what we wrote. Thanks to Melanie (my sister) for the fun idea. I'll be honest, it got harder to think of things the closer we got to 100, plus it was write before I had to go to work so we weren't able to take as much time coming up with the list. As you can tell when you read the list, the odd numbers are mostly Jackson's input and the even numbers are mine. It will be fun to add Braxton's input as he gets older.
