A little fun weekend back in May

My parents came up for a quick visit back in May and took Braxton, along with Wade, Cadi, and their kiddos to Chuck E Cheese. Jackson and I went to a wedding reception in Ogden while they were out having fun. It was Braxton's first time there and he LOVED it; I was sad I missed it but grateful for the pictures they took! He loved all the little kiddy rides that were there that he was big enough to ride on.

I was told this was his favorite ride. It was a ride that actually printed out a little picture at the end of your turn. Braxton brought home several pictures of himself!

Besides taking Braxton to Chuck E Cheese while we were at the reception, my parents also helped us out with some yard work and TLC that weekend. They helped give our lawn the first mowing of the year which was so desperately needed. Then Jackson and I both got majorly sick, so it was great to have them here helping out with Braxton, keeping him busy and keeping our house clean and tidy. Thanx for all the help!

Our lawn! Look at how long the grass was! We definitely put it off for way too long. Jackson tried to get to it several times, but anytime he had the chance it would rain.

So much better ... even pulled out the weed whacker!

Jackson and I were so sick that Sunday that we just stayed home from church. Jackson was way sicker than me and stayed in bed most of the day. My parents were a great help with Braxton. Grandpa and Braxton got quite close and had a great time together.

Braxton, as you know, loves books so he really enjoyed having Grandpa around to read to him.

Braxton loves going outside, probably more than I do. I just really hate the sunlight and it could very well be because my eyes are so sensitive to it. Either way, Grandpa took Braxton for a walk around the block. It was so cute to watch. Braxton was just so happy and was mumbling quite loudly in his own language the whole time. We would yell "Bye" to him and he would wave and yell something back to us.

Later on after nap-time, we baked Grandpa a cake. His birthday was the following Tuesday but we figured it would be fun to sing to him and have cake and ice cream before they left. Grant it Jackson and I didn't eat too much cake and ice cream because we were sick but we looked forward to having more when we felt better. I remember that when I was little, it was a tradition for my Grandpa in California to help us poke our finger in our birthday cake to try out the frosting right before eating it. It was a fun tradition and it was one of our favorite things to do as their grandkids. It's amazing how a little thing like that would impact my life to have me now, at my age, still remember doing that when I was little. It was one of our favorite parts about our birthday when Grandpa told us to stick our finger in the cake and sneak some frosting. So sure enough my dad, (like father like son) wanted to do the same thing with Braxton. I didn't even remind him about it, must be a Hawkins thing for him to naturally stick Braxton on his lap and poke a finger in the cake.

Grandpa and Braxton testing out the cake. Braxton was a little hesitant at first but after the first taste of the yummy frosting, he didn't need any more coaxing from Grandpa to try it. In fact he really didn't want to leave Grandpa's lap. He wanted more cake! Anyhow, happy birthday Grandpa! Thanx for all the help you and Grandma gave us that weekend we were sick.
