Already 3 months old!

Thought I better get a start at keeping updates on Greyson and his growth. We saw the doctor several times these last couple of months. Overall he is doing well, not very big for his age but I'm guessing that's due to his time spent in NICU. I'm sure that delayed him a bit in growth but the doctor didn't seem concerned. Greyson has been off oxygen since the second week of January and has been doing good. The only thing new is that the pediatrician wanted him to get an ultrasound of his hips just to make sure they are in socket and placement as they should be. Sometimes breech babies will need extra help with their hips because overtime their hips can come out of socket while growing in the womb in a breech position. So an appointment was then scheduled to get an ultrasound done at Primary Children's. Other than the need of an ultrasound everything looked great with him.

He also received a bunch of immunizations at his 2 month appointment:
DTaP, Hib, Polio, RotaTeq, Prevnar, and Hep B. So a total of three pokes and one oral.

And here are his measurements on how he's growing.

December 6, 2014 (birth):
Weighed 7 lb. 13 oz. and 1' 7" long

December 26, 2014 (this was considered his 2 weeks appt. but he was technically 3 weeks old):
Weight: 7 lb. 13 oz. (10-25 percentile) his weight was what he weighed at birth.
Height: 1' 7" (25-50 percentile)
Head circumference: 14.17" (25-50 percentile)

February 6, 2015, (2 months appt.):
Weight: 9 lb. 9 oz. (2 lb. less than Braxton at this age) (2nd-5th percentile)
Height: 1' 8" (below the 2nd percentile)
Head circumference: 15.15" (25-50 percentile)

As you can see, he isn't growing too fast but again the doctor seems fine with it for now.

This is the pediatricians nurse giving Greyson his shots and medication.
A picture taken later on that day after all those pokes.

So on February 13th they did an ultrasound on his hips. I looked up Braxton's ultrasound and surprisingly enough it's the same tech he had 2 years ago!

So here are his results. I don't know if you can see those numbers but the degree's are suppose to be 60 and the percentage is suppose to be 50. As you can see when you click on the picture, his right hip isn't too bad, a little off in the percentage but his left side is a bit more out of place. After calling the pediatrician asking what he wanted us to do next with these results, he suggested that we see a pediatric orthopedic surgeon for his hips.

An appointment was than made with Dr. Allen Stotts.

We saw Dr. Stotts on March 3rd at Primary's. I was very impressed with him. He too agreed that his left was worse than his right and he than gave me two options. He said we could either wait it out and keep his legs in a certain position all the time and check back in 3 weeks to see if it's getting better and if not than use the brace later down the road or we can just skip that part and go straight to using the hip brace. The hip brace is only good between the ages of 0-6 months of age. So I figured we might as well just use the brace because if his hips haven't gotten any better in 3 weeks, that's 3 weeks over and gone that we could have used with a hip brace. So the doctor then fitted him for his hip brace. Greyson does really well with it, he hasn't shown too much complaint about it. We have an appointment already scheduled for him in a couple of weeks to re-check  his hips so hopefully they get better and back in socket with the help of the brace. And hopefully he doesn't have to wear the brace for too long.

At the doctors office getting fitted for his brace.

He certainly can't move as much in the brace, but it hasn't been too bad yet.
