My twin nieces were in another play this year which yet again, gave us a great reason to go visit them! But this time, we got to spend an entire week with them! We left on a Friday night and came home the next Sunday. We're starting to like leaving at night so the boys can sleep and it puts us there much sooner the next day than if we were to leave early in the morning. We left the 30th of October and got there the afternoon of Halloween, just enough time to go trick or treating with the girls.
Greyson doing so well in a 14+ hour car ride!
Even happy while awake!
Braxton taking a nap himself.
Our first stop for trick or treating was at the main street where the twins were doing a mini performance of some of their musical numbers from the play for advertising. After their performance, all the mini shops along the street had candy ready to hand out to all the kiddos.
This time I added a lightning bolt to Greyson's costume so people could tell he was a cloud. People guessed his costume right for the most part but the lightning bolt made it even better I think.
The two of them together, that was probably as good as it gets to get a picture of the two of them.
We have Daisy duck with pebbles and little miss riding hood with the big bad wolf!
Aunt Lou took the two little ones to do a little pre-trick-or-treating while the twins got ready to do their mini performance. It was nice because it got much busier after the performance.
The cast from the play!
The twins were Minnie Mouse and Astrid from the movie, "How to Train a Dragon"
All the performers wore their Halloween costumes which made it so cute ... and interesting!
Now off to their ward trunk or treat!
I may be bias but I just LOVE this costume and the handsome dude wearing it!!
It looked sooo good on him!
My sister with her family.
All of them together, the cute little rain cloud was all tuckered out and decided to stay in the car with Grandma.
Grandpa was a good sport to help me take Braxton around to all the cars.
Once we got home, everyone was hungry so pumpkin shape pancakes were a must!
Happy Halloween!
While at church the next day after Sacrament meeting, we found a cute bow on the pew and thought we should try it on Greyson and all his hair. He would have made a pretty cute girl! :) Jackson wasn't amused, but yes, Jackson, we need a girl ;)
Our afternoon naps after church.
The next morning it was out with Halloween and in with Thanksgiving.
We made Thanksgiving turkeys out of our hand print!
My older sister insisted that we cut Greyson's hair. She kept saying he looked like Donald Trump with all that hair and the way it stuck up in the air.
For some reason this picture below shows it flat.
Greyson was a great sport about it, never even cried.
Wow, it's amazing how much a haircut can change a baby's looks.
Time to play outside!
One afternoon was spent at our usual spot, Chuck E Cheese.
Braxton's favorite game in the whole arcade!
Home and relaxing.
While Braxton and I took a nap one day, the girls built a fort for Braxton. He was so excited about it when he woke up. The girls were gone to play practice and missed his excited reaction.
Had to make a stop at Costco and while there we saw this horse just waiting for someone to ride him.
Luv Greyson's face in this one.
My boys grow so fast and it is hard for me to keep them in clothes that fit. Melanie saw them wearing their pajamas I had brought and thought they were just too small and too uncomfortable. So she and Aunt Lou decided to go pajama shopping for my boys. While at the store they came up with the crazy idea of buying everyone some new pajamas and having a fun "Christmas Eve" in November since we are never together with Melanie during Christmas. So with a mini tree, a viewing of "The Santa Claus" (another Christmas eve tradition) and some "Christmas breakfast casserole" for dinner ,,, and Christmas Eve it was. It was so fun and we made some great memories!
The mini Christmas Tree
One of Melanie's new decorations she has bought for outside ... we plugged it in to make it look a little more like Christmas inside.
Reading E. Mae's books she wrote while waiting for everyone to get ready.
All the new pj's.
And finally the event we had all made the trip to Washington for ... opening night of the play Mary Poppins!
This was the little biography of the twins that were put up in the hallway with the rest of the cast.
We were sure to get their early so we could get the perfect seats to see the girls on stage.
Greyson did so good watching the play along with Braxton. Makes me so happy.
Pictures taken afterwards! The girls did a great job! :)
This picture was taken after millions were already taken plus it was way past Braxton's bedtime. Poor kid. He did so well during the performance.
Near the end of the play I noticed Braxton was feeling really warm, so when we got home we checked his temperature and saw that it was about 102/103 and he was very tired and cranky. He had a hard time falling asleep and was sad so sweet K. Rae stood at the door and sang him primary hymns. Sure enough he fell asleep within a few minutes. Thank you K. Rae!
Lucky for us we got to stay long enough to see the play twice. We knew that would be a little too much for Braxton to sit through it twice so the second night we left Braxton and cupcake at home. We bought them some activities to keep them occupied while they stayed home with Uncle T. Braxton was diagnosed with an ear infection earlier that morning, and luckily the antibiotic has kicked in by the evening and he was okay with us leaving him at home. Poor guy! Thank you Uncle Troy for being such a good sport and watching the kids so we could go enjoy the play one more time!
A surprise visitor came up from Oregon to watch the play as well, my Aunt Bethie (my mom's sister)! And this was her first time getting to meet baby Greyson.
My sister volunteered to run the spotlight for a couple of the shows.
Poor Greyson, this picture makes me laugh. He was so tired but was a pretty good sport for the most part and Aunt Emily was good to hold him and keep him occupied while I took pictures.
I think these statues were one of my favorites parts of the play. They were real people that started dancing with the music.
I thought I would snap a picture of my sister hard at work.
These next few pictures were so cute, they just make me laugh. Greyson was so tired near the end of the show and kept laying his head down on the chair in front of him. Poor guy.
He did this several times.
Great friends of the twins came to watch the play.
Made it home after the play and the girls were excited to share E. Mae's books with their Great Aunt Bethie!
The next morning we headed for home. Goodbyes are always so hard. This was such a sweet picture.
Greyson playing with the phone from Aunt Bethie for the ride home. Thanx for helping us keep him occupied!
A DVD player was a great investment we made for our car.
It sure helps out on these long road trips we take.
It sure helps out on these long road trips we take.
Greyson was getting cranky near the end of our 14 hour drive and needed something to entertain him too, so we plugged in my parent's mini portable DVD player for him. (Because of his age, he cannot sit facing forward and so he is unable to see the main screen in the van.) Luckily we were able to rig the portable one to face him by using toy rings. He loved it! Just can't beat Baby Einstein!
It was such a fun trip. I'm glad we were able to go and spend time with our family that lives so far away!
