9 Months Old!

Braxton is 9 months old, well 10 months in a week but his 9 month appointment wasn't until last week.

His doctor's appt. was on,
December 19, 2013
Weight: 21 lb. 6 oz (Gained about 3.7 lb.)
Height: 2' 6.5" (30.5 in)
Head Circumference: 18.5 in
His weight is still in the 50-75 percentile
His length is still on the line of 95%
His head circumference is still in the 75-90 percentile

He didn't have to get shots this time but he did get his iron level checked. His Iron was 11.8, which was a little bit low but not too bad. The doctor said she would like to see his iron higher than 12 but that 11.8 was okay. She gave me a list of foods high in iron and she reassured me that if he started to get constipated that prunes is another source of high iron! So we'll see what I can do to increase his iron. She said it could be because I don't feed him as much formula as most people would but she wasn't too worried about that because his weight was great. So I just need to increase his iron intake. She gave me a sheet of foods that contain iron.

When she was checking Braxton out she gave him two tongue depressors to hold onto and play with while she was listening to his lungs, heart, etc. After she checked his whole body out, she held up the tongue depressor she was using and asked, "You want it? What you gonna do?" And Braxton, with a tongue depressor in each hand, used his right hand to grab the other one. He was able to hold onto the one in his hand while grabbing ahold of another one from the doctor. The doctor was impressed and said, "Whoa, your advanced." Of course it's nothing big but still exciting. She said that most babies at his age would just drop the one stick in his hand and reach for the other one, not usually hold onto it and grab another one. She said being able to hold onto the stick and grab another one is a skill usually developed in the 12/13 month range.

His appointment overall went well. Head shape looked good and his neck range of motion is good.  She looked into his ears at that time and there was no ear infection, but as of yesterday he was diagnosed with another ear infection and put on antibiotics again. That would be his 3rd official one this year. Don't know what to think about that. Just keep an eye on it I guess and hope he doesn't get anymore.

Some of the new things he loves since his last appointment: Airplanes and puppets, well at least the ones on baby einstein. He loves the airplanes that fly around with the puppets in it. He likes my monkey slippers, I could get him to crawl to wherever I want him to wearing those. I'm thinking of getting him some puppets soon. He now crawls, not to quick lucky for me but nonetheless he does. He loves to crawl over to the dog food and the dog water bowl. He has spilt the water on him right before church once and has tasted the dog food, luckily I got it out of his mouth before he tried to swallow it. In fact he bawled when I took the dog food out of his mouth.

He sleeps in his crib great as he always has from the beginning. He sleeps about 10-12 hours a night and takes only 1-2 naps a day now.

He now has 8 teeth, 4 on the bottom and 4 on the top. Six more teeth than the two he had at 6 months.

These pictures below were taken on December 1st along with the one up top.
His official 9 month day.

We have a happy, healthy, growing baby and thats all that matters.
