Conference Weekend!

Conference weekend had a bonus this year, a visit from my parents! My parents have callings they don't like to miss in church, so they rarely come down unless they can stay Saturday night and head back Sunday evening. So conference was a perfect time for them to take advantage of the extra day they have off to come spend time with us. Plus my mom has been wanting to get her hair permed for awhile now and Emily offered to do it for her the next time she came down.

As many of you know, Braxton LOVES that toy car from the hospital. So ever since his doctor's visit, I've been on the search for one. I didn't want to pay full price for one from the store and figured I could find one cheaper somewhere else. I have been looking at KSL and some facebook yardsales, with some great news, and after only just a day or two of searching, I found one! This guy was selling a toy car on KSL for 10 dollars. I was super stoked about it and it looked decent in the picture, so I went for it. We picked it up the morning of my parents arrival. Which it was nice to have my dad around, for later on that evening, he helped me take it outside and give it a late night car wash since Jackson was in bed for work the next day! :) And boy, it sure needed a good wash. It was left outside with the previous owner and had lots of leaves, dirt, cobwebs, and whatever else the gunk was in the cracks of the car or actually in it. Even after all the work it took to clean it up, I still think it was worth it! It's considered the "best" toy we have here at our house and it's the first toy that any of our kid visitors go to when they come for a visit.

Braxton seeing his very own toy car for the first time on Saturday afternoon. I waited for Jackson to be home so he too could see his reaction.

Maximus loves to go after the wheels which brings a smile to Braxton's face. He loves teasing the dog.

Emily showed up after her shift from work and gave Braxton a spin in his new wheels. He loves it just as much as he loves to get pushed around on his toy dog. I do admit the toy car is easier on our backs to push. Don't you just love the shot of Maximus in the pic on the right, air shot! ;)

Mom getting her hair permed by Emily on Saturday night.

Wade trying to teach Maximus how to rollover. He almost has it down.

The men were great sports about the smell that comes along with a perm.

I sent the above picture to my sister Melanie in a text for fun, and her little girl said, "Where's Papa?" So then I quickly snapped this picture of Grandpa, hopefully it didn't scare her ;)

After Emily finished up mother's hair, we all watched "The Saratov Approach". It was a good movie, I really liked it. While watching it, I couldn't believe how all that horrible stuff really did happen to those poor men. I can't even imagine what that would have been like to be in there footsteps. I'm so glad it had a great ending!

After conference on Sunday we went to the West Jordan dog park, it was packed!! I couldn't believe all the dogs that we saw there. This picture below doesn't show nearly as many dogs that were scattered about. It really was quite entertaining to watch all the dogs. We were trying to keep the dogs away from us because they were all breathing hard from running, and drooling. We even shooed Maximus away from us, haha. It was great fun!

There's Jackson all dressed in dark clothes in the far distance. That is not our dog next to him though. Maximus was somewhere else running all over the place.

While we where there, Emily wanted to get some pictures of herself for her new blog she created, www.losingitwithlou.blogspot.com . Her new goal is to run a marathon and more power to her I say! I give her my full support. I personally have no desire to run, but really proud of her desire and commitment to do so. Best of luck Em!

Can't go somewhere and not take a picture of my lil' Braxton.

On our way out of the dog park before we heading home, we girls decided to take some pictures together and be silly, or me and Emily I should say.

It is sooooo not like me to pose like this below. I guess Emily helps bring out my wild side.

We were all hungry when we got home but didn't want to pig out, so Mom and Emily decided to have some cereal. They couldn't leave Braxton out, he instantly wanted to eat some of there cereal too! So we got him his own personal bowl as well. I thought this was a cute picture of the three of them just chowin' down on cheerios.

Braxton was just stuffing them in his mouth so fast, as you can tell from below.

We had to get a quick photo of mom's finished hair product before they left. Great job Em!

After we got inside from picture taking, mom started to play with Braxton and use the hand puppets we had for him.

Grandpa ended up on the floor wanting to play with the puppets as well.

My parents left soon after there little puppet play together and I snapped the picture of Braxton all tuckered out. I've never seen him fall asleep at his high chair before, he was too tired to even finish dinner. It must have been an eventful day for such a lil' guy. Luckily it was 7 or 8 o'clock at night that I went ahead and just put him to bed.

We had a fun weekend, thanks for coming up mom and dad! It was great to have you over. And I'm proud to say, we where faithful and did watch ALL sessions of conference that weekend! :)
