So after signing up for the 5k Electric run, I recently found out that Emily was going to head to Shelley Idaho for there 85th Annual Shelley Spud Day. So I figured I could go with her. I surprisingly enough had that Saturday off from work. So as soon as we were done with the race, Emily and I rushed off to grab our packed bags and head to our home town of Shelley for spud day. It was a super short last minute trip and happened way back in September. As some of you may have noticed, I'm trying to get caught up with all my posts. Just about one post a day I think to get all caught up! :) Even though it was a short trip it was still fun, thanx for having us home for a visit. Jackson of course had to work, poor guy. He misses out on lots of fun things to provide for his family. Braxton and I sure do appreciate your hard work Jackson!
Waiting for the parade to start!
The Shelley High School Mascot, Home of the Russets!
Every year they do a spud tug where you do a tug-a-war over a pit of mashed potatoes. Emily brought some friends with her to spud day and begged me to join her spud tug team. You can have as many people as you want, as long as you weigh less than 1000 pounds total. Which I think with the five of us, we weighed over 900 lbs which kind of was a disadvantage to us because the first team we went against was 5 big men that weighed that as well. Us three girls on Emily's team don't have the muscle to take on 5 men. If the video below would work, you can see we lasted longer than expected.
I told Jackson it would be so fun to watch all the Plott boys compete in the spud tug. I think the Plott boys would have a great shot at winning the trophy! Too bad everyone lives to far to compete.
Some pictures my mom took from the sidelines.
Emily got tugged into the pit, the joys of being at the front of the line!
Gross! Mashed taters!
They were passing out yummy treats in the parade, had to let Braxton have a bite, he loved it! It was similar to a popsicle.
